Latest Finds!

Mom and I made it to a couple of yard sales and a thrift store last weekend; and, thanks to a sweet friend, we were invited to preview a yard sale that contained some estate sale items of her relative. Here’s a few of the things we found…..

Several Little Golden Books...even a Little Little Golden Book (bottom left)....

A small Pyrex Homestead bowl and a cobalt milk pitcher…..

Pink Indiana Glass Hen-on-Nest and a pretty perfume bottle….

Here’s a better shot of that perfume bottle, plus a very nice round art deco wall mirror….

A kitchen step stool is always a good find, plus I discovered several kitchen utensils and a rare box of Mendets….you know, those round metal plugs used to repair graniteware…

Lastly, there was one more find for you us Pyrex addicts...a divided casserole with matching Verde lid…

Hope your treasure hunting brings you a thrill!

Another City-Wide Yard Sale

Happy St. Paddy’s Day to all of you! The luck of the Irish was with me recently when Mom and I attended one of the City-Wide yard sales held at our multi-purpose center. These city-wide sales are held about 3 times a year in a climate controlled building so, thankfully, no big concerns about weather.

Among the treasures we found are these goodies……

An old enamelware bucket, a vintage recipe box, a red-handled rolling pin and a tiny girl-with-a-hat vase made in Japan….

Mom found this enamelware “rose” pie plate and I added a rocker cutter and Pyrex Crazy Daisy butter dish to the pile…..

There was more Pyrex to be found…..a #404 primary yellow mixing bowl, a Spice o’ Life sugar shaker and a set of salt & pepper shakers….

Not wanting to disappoint those of you with a love of rust, I found another, and MUCH larger, First Aid box. This one dwarfs the other one I found a couple of weeks ago, but this one didn’t have any goodies inside (which is probably a good thing!).

Lastly, Mike and Frank would be proud of me for finding an old Massey Ferguson tractormeter. I hope some future customer will be proud that I found it too! I have no idea if it works, but the graphics are cool!

What treasures have you found lately?

“Tray” Chic

Since our unusually cold southern weather seems to have cancelled the yard sales around here, I have resorted to taken advantage of the opportunity to complete a few projects. Digging in my “to do” pile, I found three trays that needed major makeovers.......

I was so anxious to get some paint on this lacy brass frame that I almost forgot to take a “before” picture. It looks pretty sad, huh?

A few coats of white spray paint and bright floral paper under a new piece of glass makes that old frame ready for spring.

The second tray featured a nice reverse-painted mirror but the surrounding wood was drab, at best.

A little chalk paint, some distressing and a coat of paste wax brightened it up, I think.

The last tray probably changed the most dramatically. A wooden tray with a moose painted in the middle just doesn’t fit South Mississippi decor.

So more chalk paint, aqua “flour sack” stripes, a coat of paste wax and voila!

"Tray" chic?

Tres chic!
