Rainy Weekend Finds

Rain threatened…and made good on those threats…all weekend; however, Mom and I aren’t the kind to let a few raindrops deter us from a good treasure-hunt. We put on our rainy day shoes and trudged through muddy puddles to uncover some goodies.

It was cloudy, but not raining, on Friday morning and we found…..

A couple of old Coca-Cola crates…..

A Baret Ware metal tray made in England…..

A pair of framed butterfly pictures, a Star of David trinket box and a small owl-shaped box.

It was raining on Saturday morning, but there were a couple of advertised sales we wanted to check out. We were happy to find that they weren’t cancelled and brought home….

A vintage Belber suitcase...

Several boxes that originally held typewriter ribbons (the bottom one is full of old match books)...

And an old school chair from a local elementary school…..

My “assistant” gave her approval.....!

Did you “yard sale” in the rain?

  1. The coca cola crates are so much fun! It seems like they are always in style! And I love those old boxes and the little chair. I don't dare go to the thrift store again...I haven't put things away yet! I'm in a mess right now, rearranging some furniture! haha Enjoy your day, my friend!

  3. I don't mind clouds, but around here people just don't do sales in the rain! Saturday morning in this area was HOT, so a bit of clouds/sprinkles would have been welcome! Love the Coke crates and that old school chair!

  4. Sometimes that's when you get the best deals because no one else is out competing for them! LOVE your finds -- my favorite is that suitcase and the typewriter ribbon boxes with the match books in them! Sure don't see either typewriter ribbon or matchbooks any more!

  8. Great finds! I especially love the coke crates and never see them here at garage sales.

Our weather was great on Friday when I was off work and was able to hit some sales. I found some good things. I'm glad I didn't wait until Saturday to go out as the weather was cold, windy and rainy...

    Have a great week!

  9. Loving the coke crates! Mom and I love our junking and I don't think that there is a whole lot that can get in the way of treasure hunts.

  10. I love your Coca Cola crates. I have quite a few of them. Hubby loves them too! I have been looking for an old school chair with no luck. With the exception of one yard sale I visited not too long ago. It was a swivel teachers chair. The kind that has the tall back to it. It was sitting on the back of the man's property. He was SO not interested in selling it :( Oh well! I tried.

  11. I didn't get out this weekend. Seems like real life and chores are getting in the way of my shopping! I think you'll have to keep the school chair - maker a great back scratcher.

  15. Oh, yeah! Yard sales in the rain are often better because the timid are home keeping dry and they don't get all the good stuff you want to beat them to. I also don't mind having garage sales in the rain, if there actually is a garage! I can't believe you got old Coke crates and that uber cool suitcase! I've been wanting an American Seating Co. desk like this chair, but with the desk part attached. However, I haven't been able to find one reasonably priced. You really have an eye for the good stuff, Sherry!
