Mom and I set out early Friday morning to attend an estate sale that had been advertised on estatesales.net. The pictures posted on the website showed only a few things that looked interesting, but I’ve learned that not everything is shown in the photos. We looked through elegant glassware, pots and pans, lots of crochet thread and tables of Christmas items, but I walked away with…..
A handled white wicker tray, a jadeite-colored apron and a Japanese porcelain bowl,
A vintage juicer and 2 crocheted potholders,
Two pretty Copley bird figurines and a cross-stitched tablecloth.
We stopped at a couple of yard sales that were advertised in the local papers. Though we didn’t find much, but we did discover this large 39” x 19” framed needlepoint tapestry. The work is beautiful!
But the thrill of the day came when we turned to head home and saw signs for an estate/moving sale. This one had not been advertised in the papers or online. We stopped....nothing was priced…you just picked out what you wanted to buy and a sweet older gentleman gave you a very reasonable price. I went straight to the small kitchen and picked out a few things. When I opened a bottom cabinet and my heart stood still…a Pyrex bowl! I moved a few things around and found two more Pyrex bowls. To be exact, I found three nesting Snowflake Blue mixing bowls!
What a thrill!!!

I am officially vintage ~ I received those same bowls as a wedding gift in 1975. I also have a collection of those crocheted pot holders.
ReplyDeleteOh you found some really nice items! Everything you found is in excellent condition. Love the Pyrex bowls!
ReplyDeleteAccording to American Pickers, you were "free-styling" and that's where you get the best deals (and thrills). Great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky find! A yard sale/estate sale is like opening a treasure chest.
ReplyDeleteLove the color of those bowls. What a special treat to find an unexpected sale...those always seem to be the best ones. Looks like a great treasure hunting day for you and your mom.

Love the Needlepoint and the Pyrex. How much for the 3 bowls and the needlepoint?

ReplyDeleteWow, what a fun productive day you had! I have my Mom and Dad's juicer, on the idea of the one you bought. Mine is silver and red and has it's red juice cup. LOVE IT and it works as good as the day they got it as a Wedding Gift in 1947. Love all your finds "BUT" my heart belongs to the "Copeland Birds". (((LOVE THEM)))!!!
ReplyDeleteBig Squishy Hugs to you,
Donna
Great finds! I remember when my grandma got that rose pattern and put it all over the house. Pillows, toilet seat cover, pot holders- you name the room and she had her "new Pattern" roses in it. She got it out of Craft Basket, I think.
ReplyDeleteLove the birds. When do you think they will be in your booth?
ReplyDeleteLove all you finds -- the apron is beautiful, the Pyrex bowls are wonderful and the tray a favorite. Sometimes you just happen upon treasures!!
