More Roosters to Crow About!

After publishing my last post about a vintage rooster spice rack, I remembered that I had another set of roosters that I haven’t told you about. Since yard sales have been non-existent the last few weekends, it seems like a good time to tell you about some Holt Howard rooster pieces I found at an estate sale last year.

Have you ever heard of a “set” of spoon rests? I usually just find solo spoon rests, but these are obviously a set since they face each other. Do you think they are fighting roosters?

The spoon rests are marked with both ink and paper labels.

I also found a matching sugar and creamer set……

……and a cute Jam and Jelly pot.  I think it’s sweet even though the lid has seen better days.

Have you found any Holt Howard ceramic pieces?

  1. Holt Howard is a favorite of mine and I've never seen these rooster pieces before - so cute! I have some HH vintage Christmas ceramic pieces and a few of his bottlebrush wreaths and honeycomb ornaments.

  7. I read this as HOT Howard the first time around and was thinking that's a little vain of him. I have never seen any of those rooster pieces before. They're very cute though.

  13. Cute collection.Do you think those could just be nut dishes or something instead of spoon rests? I would use them for that, they are so cute. I went to the estate sale in Morton-all I can say is I was way disappointed. Boy, they sure doctor up their photographs in their ads!I heard several people say the same thing too.

  17. That Jam & Jelly pot is so cute! I've never been lucky enough to find any HH "in the wild" (aka outside an antique store). I also love the ones with the little pixie guys--I think I saw those in a Country Living mag a few years back.

  18. Such vibrant colors on your rooster pieces and you are right-good garage and estate sales seem nonexistent this time of year!

  21. Those are a wonderful find. It is rare to find spoon rest in pairs. Perhaps they are not fighting, but just talking things over.
