Isn't She Lovely

Vintage luggage is at the top of my estate sale shopping list. I found these on last year's Longest Yard Sale.

SOLD!

Remember this gorgeous set of red American Tourister luggage…..it didn’t last long!

SOLD!

The most popular luggage I sell has the tweed and leather look, like this Belber train case and the pieces in the first photo. They have vintage appeal yet are still popular for travel or decorating.

Even though I often see white or cream luggage, I don’t usually buy it for my booth; however, I changed my mind when I saw this Samsonite Silhouette beauty case.

It looked very generic and plain on the outside, but when I looked inside…….

It was almost mint!

The outside is in good shape, but the interior is in GREAT shape.

It even has the original hang tag and key.

I had to buy it and it’s now in my booth waiting to accompany someone on their spring holiday!!!

Do you use vintage luggage?

  1. Hey Sherry! That is one awesome suitcase....hang tag and everything ~ what a find! Yes, we both use suitcases. Right now I have a big suitcase that houses Nerf guns and ammo.....you never know when you'll get in a "battle"! lol!! It's funny, because my kids ASKED if they could use it for that purpose....ahhhh....the power of vintage finds its way to the next generation :) got to love that!!

  2. My family use to have those red samsonite! I remember one time bring frozen meat on the train in it! I was home and my Mom bought us meat, so it went in the samsonite for the 3 hr train ride home!

  11. I love the vintage luggage. That Samsonite train case is wonderful. I kept my red one (High School Graduation present) for so many years...but at some point it left me. Now I wish I had it for sure! Like so many other things I have let go. hugs, Linda

  14. I like old suit cases too. I have one very small brown Samsonite that I thought I would find the matching pieces to someday. But I never found any more to the set. So I decided to put that little case to work as my sewing kit. It's perfect for all the neccessities needed for sewing, crochet, embroidery you name it. I've even seen them used as file cabinets in home offices. What cute idea!~Ames

  18. Thanks so much for finding my blog and for the follow - so glad you did because now I have found you and all of your vintage splendor! Sometimes it just seems meant to be ;)

What a wonderful find for you. It's funny that you posted about suitcases because they have been on my mind the last week. While out shopping for Valentine's Day for my hubby (vintage fly-fishing books), I came across a Samsonite set exactly like the one we had growing up. When I saw them it brought back all the great memories of family road trips and the wonderful places we visited. It took all I had not to buy them!

I usually decorate with them but I would have no problem carrying one for a trip.
