Lucky Charm?

I’ve decided that Mom must be my lucky charm when it comes to treasure-hunting! She was a bit under the weather with a cold this past weekend and didn’t go with me to a small estate sale. Without her help, there weren’t many goodies to smile about. I found only a few things to show you…..emphasis on “few.”

I scooped up a neat rusty wire basket from the garage. In the kitchen I found a small ivy embossed refrigerator dish that matches the larger one I found last weekend and I also grabbed a 1950s Anchor Hocking juice decanter.

At least the clown planter is all smiles because I found a rusty wire soap dish. It holds a small ceramic leaf dish marked Occupied Japan and an equally small ceramic figurine featuring a trio of Scotties marked Japan.

Do you shop with a “lucky charm?”

  1. Still some good finds and I hope you Mom is feeling better. I found an amazing tablecloth this weekend. Spent $10 on it but hope I can get more for it in a resale. Gorgeous, I'll send photos. I guess my lucky charm is me?? LOL

  2. Nice finds Sherry! I wonder what goodies you would've found with your Mom. I don't get to shop with my sister very often, but always find great things when we're together!
    Have a great week!

  4. i feel the same way about thrifting with my sister as you do with your mom. she just seems to have radar for treasure. i'm always successful when i shop with her. the little scottie figure looks alot like those little ceramic collectibles that used to come with red rose tea - do you remember those?

  5. Normally I am a little freaked out by clown, but I think he is adorable. Love the colors on him.

  6. doing as well as you did, what would have happened if your mom had been with you? She is wonderful in every aspect. Love the colorful clown -- BTW: You no longer have a man's hat in your booth. Mr. Anonymous collects vintage hats -- and he grabbed it!

  7. At least you DID find something. We have not been that lucky lately. If I want electronics or books Hubby needs to come with me. Most of the time I am still the one that finds it, but he still needs to be there. That's okay, he's my best friend, and I like hanging out with him;)

  10. I typically shop alone but twice a year have my mom with me when we hit a local flea market! You're lucky to have your mom as your shopping partner!

  12. I think you were pretty lucky to find these goodies. My favorite is the big wire basket. Most of the time I shop by myself, does that mean I'm my own good luck charm?
Hope your mom is feeling better.

  16. LOVE the rusty baskets and the decanter. fun color in that one. hrm...i usually find the best stuff when I shop alone (sound selfish?) i find that when i am allowed/able to really soak up what i'm doing and seeing I have better luck. AND, simply, if I'm talking or having to dance around someone else, I'm not concentrating!

  18. I love your lidded glass dish and the juice decanter.

Sadly my mum lives too far away to come thrifting with me, but she trained me well and I try to spot things that she would spot if she were there.
