Worth the Trip

Have you discovered the website EstateSales.net? I’m fortunate that some of the estate sale professionals here announce their upcoming sales on that site and post pictures of many of the items for sale. Looking through the photos for the only estate sale this weekend, I wasn’t too excited about what I saw; however, I’ve learned that not everything is pictured and some of the best things are discovered in person.

So Mom and I checked out the sale Friday morning, regardless of my skepticism, and found out that it was definitely worth the trip.

I found a set of 3 Pyrex refrigerator dishes WITH LIDS in the Early American pattern, a set of Lefton Mr. and Mrs. Claus hugger salt and pepper shakers and a great hammered aluminum tray.

Take a closer look at the handles on the tray!

There were several old books. I brought home a 1952 World Atlas, a child’s book of Bedtime Stories, a book entitled Sewing Made Easy (I need that!) and an old dictionary for crafting!

But the best kitschy, vintage finds were these 3 sheer aprons. There is a green apron with red stitching, a white one with green holiday flocking (both perfect for Christmas) and then there’s the cute one with the bright pink and purple flower.

Oh, my, my!!!

Would you wear that pink/purple apron???

  2. I wear an apron every single day. But mine are work aprons, not sweet and cute. IF I had it, I might be tempted to tie it on in time for a tea party, though! :)
    Loving that tray...great finds!

  4. Great finds once again! That tray is so neat. I love old books too. I clicked on the estate sale link, but they don't seem to have any in my area--darn it!

    Have a great week!

  5. Wow, I have never come across those refrigerator pieces in that design. Love them. Those aprons are awesome. Actually I think that pink/purple apron would be a great piece to lay on a table and build a display around it. wonderful.

  7. I signed up for Estatesales.net, but haven't actually been to one of those sales yet. A couple of the estate sale people use Craigslist instead of that. Like the aprons. Not sure about the pink and purple one though.

  8. Actually, I've done estatesales.net for a while...forgot to mention that in my last post. I get emails every week. Love that pretty bright colored apron...I'd wear black, of course to make it really pop.

  9. See you found some really nice things. I think the previous owners would want others to enjoy their things. My sisters hired a dumpsters and threw all my parents things away. It was too much for me to deal with and besides I was bed ridden at the time. Mom and dad had already given each of us the things they wanted us to have. But I bet my father would have rather seen his possessions sold at an estate sale!~Ames

  20. I had that site bookmarked, but completely forgot about it, thanks for the reminder! You sure found some fun goodies. I love that aluminum tray. What fun aprons. I wear an apron when I'm cooking up creations at my workbench. It's a messy old thing and full of paint. Those are almost too pretty to wear.
