Another Whazzit and More!

Have you ever bought something at a yard sale even though you didn’t know what it was or what it was used for?

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

There were only a couple of yard sales this weekend, but that didn’t stop Mom and I from checking them out. We also stopped by an old flea market that we don’t usually frequent. That’s where we found this:

It is rusty, crusty and looks like some sort of comb. I’m guessing it’s a grooming tool for an animal, but I’m not sure. Do you know? It is approximately 8” long including the handle and the metal part is approximately 4” square.

Can you help me out?

The yard sales yielded some interesting finds, too!  I found this red camping lantern....

It’s pretty small, though.

It had a friend…..a red coffee grinder.

Do you know what they REALLY are???

Pencil Sharpeners!!!

And remember this group of things I found at the World’s Longest Yard Sale…..?
See the owl trivet at the bottom of the picture?

I found his baby brother….or maybe it’s his baby sister!

Anyway, I hope you’ll give a “hoot”
and help me with the Whazzit!!!

I’ll be asking about my "whazzit" at the following parties:

Flea Market Finds at Her Library Adventures
Thrift Share Monday at Apron Thrift Girl
Magpie Monday at Me and My Shadow
Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays at Coastal Charm

  2. I think that is a comb that is used on sheep, to obtain some of their fleece for spinning. Let us know what you find out! I think of you whenever I see owls now!!!!

  4. Yep, it looks like a curry comb for horses. I have one that is similar. I buy a lot of old rusty stuff, too. Sometimes, I buy it not knowing what it is, like you.
    Blessings.

  5. I'm always finding things that I'm clueless about. I would think it was a comb for an animal too; the sheep idea sounds logical. You sure are finding lots of owls these days...too cute!

  12. Curry comb or to card wool. Where you have to separate it before spinning, after it comes off of the sheep.
I still want that yellow bowl.
DO NOT LIKE OWLS- the worst part of the 70s! LOL
I remember them being everywhere in everything! They were in every one's kitchens for sure.
Those 2 are the best looking ones I have seen. Some of them were scary! These are cross eyed. LOL

  16. I'm no help, but I would've bought it too. It's just cute vintage. The pencil sharpeners are so fun! I love it when you accidently find something that goes with something you already have. That happened to me today. Hopped over from Coastal Charm. Now a new follower.

  19. I thought it might be a sheep comb, but what do I know about sheep. Nothing. I'm glad you put that quarter by the lantern because I was skimming through your post and thought those were real size.
