I Get the Jitters!

You might say I’m addicted to coffee; so addicted that I get the jitters if I DON’T have my morning cup of caffeine. My personal preference is Classic Folgers …... no cream, no sugar ……just plain old-fashioned black coffee. I love the smell of coffee as it’s brewing in the morning. I love the taste of it AND I love the paraphernalia associated with it....coffee cups, mugs, coffeepots and especially vintage coffee cans.

It all started when I bought three old one-pound coffee cans at an estate sale years ago.

Folger's, Butter-Nut, Yellow Bonnet
I don’t really know why I was attracted to them. Maybe I was drawn to their colorful vintage graphics. Maybe they just reminded me of my Dad’s workshop. His shelves were lined with old coffee cans containing a “just-in-case” assortment of nuts and bolts, nails, screws, and washers that he always kept handy.

I’ve added only a few cans to that original purchase, but I still look for them at estate sales, especially if there’s an old garage or workshop to rummage through.

I’ve never heard of Hollywood Coffee, but I found this old tin at a local yard sale.

Look! ...... It’s from "just up the road" in Jackson, Mississippi.

I like to display my collection on my pantry shelves along with old mixing bowls, fruit jars and coffee canisters.

Did you save any old coffee cans?

I’ll be linking to the following parties:

  5. I am with you. Nothing better than a good cup of coffee in the morning. I drink more than I should in the morning. I will have one maybe in the evening. I try to not to drink too much, as it does tend to keep me awake. I never thought of collecting the cans.

  13. We have an auto grinder on our coffee pot -- set by timer -- it will wake the dead when it goes off -- or else the aroma will get you up and going in the morning. Love your pantry!

  14. I have to have my morning coffee as well. If I don't have coffee in the moring my hubby knows that I am truly sick. Because that is the only time I don't have coffee. I love the tins. The A & P one reminded me of my grandfather. He had several of those and the old "Half & Half" tobacco cans in his garage filled with stuff just like you mentioned.
I am looking forward to seeing your "thriftiness" next week at Thrifty Things Friday! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  20. You just need a few flowers to add to them, haha :) Love old tins. I just bought one on a fellow bloggers Etsy store.

You are a true coffee drinker. Black! I use all the fluffy stuff so I'm technically not a real coffee drinker. I can't resist the smell in the mornings.

Hope you have a great weekend, Sherry! :)

  21. I love the old coffee cans too. And I am a die hard Folgers gal since I was 19 years old. And I like it black too. I used to drink a pot of mud a day. Now I'm down to 1 cup if regular in the morning and 1 cup of Decafe in the evenings. Great post Sherry!~Ames

  23. This is another thing we have in common! I am "A coffee hound"! AND it's Black Folgers for me too! "IF" it's instant it would be ONLY Tasters Choice"! The other day I was in COSTCO and they tried to sell me one of those "One Cup Gizmo" machines with individual little cups that you brew ONE at a TIME! "I LAUGHED OUT LOUD"! The poor guy must have thought I was a nut, BUT, when you brew 3 FULL 12 CUP pots a day and your family drinks EVERY DROP. THOSE "Cup at a time" thingys are WORTHLESS!!! I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE your old tins! I'm going to have to find a few of those...
    Hugs to you,
    Donna
