I Have Hang-ups!

I like old wooden hangers. I like the way they look. I like it that you can still use them for their original intent….no re-purposing needed.

For me, the advertising hangers are the neatest. Dry cleaners, clothing stores, banks, hotels and many other establishments used wooden hangers as a way to promote their businesses.

This Knickerbocker Hotel hanger is my most interesting one!

Looks like someone forgot to use "spellcheck."

I have other hang-ups, too, like this old tie rack.

I wonder if Ralph Lauren would object.

And vintage wood and wire coat racks are interesting objects on their own.

I'll be "hanging around" the following parties:

Vintage Thingie Thursday at The Coloradolady
Time Travel Thursday at Brambleberry Cottage
Junkin Finds Friday at A La Carte

I'm still a newbie, so I'll also be linking to the Newbie Party
at Debbiedoo's Blogging and Blabbing.
Come go with me!!!

  1. What wonderful hangups to have. Love them all and you can still use all of these wonderful pieces of the past today. Love the misspelled wording. I remember my dad and grandpa's suits hanging on these old wooden hangers. Mom even used them for the winter coats.
I have several different old hooks, but mostly the acorn ones.
    Have a great day- Tete

  7. These are wonderful. I love the spelling blooper; it's probably worth more because of that! They just don't make them like they used to, they're all so interesting.
    Great collection.

  22. Not everyone so freely admits their hangups. I, too, have some that belonged to my grandmother. Love the misspelling.

  24. Good to hear that your Hangups are collectible, and in your case ones you can hang on to or hang around with or hang your hat on! I collect and use the Silk padded hangers...they are great for sweaters and knit tops, and they look so pretty hanging in the laundry room when not hanging around in my closet. Fun Post...well done with great photos!

  28. Very, very cool! I love the old hangers, too. They are so much better for your clothes than the wire ones, or even the modern plastic ones. My grandfather used to take several of the wire ones and wrap them up with yarns....sort of a knit, woven treatment that I haven't been able to figure out. I have a few of them still, and just treasure them. TFS! I found you from Common Ground.
